![]() As an actor, the practical experience Fighting Chance offered me was utterly invaluable to my growth. I was cast in two FCP shows within a year of graduating from New Actors Workshop in New York, NY and returning home to Vancouver. I was given the opportunity to apply techniques I had recently only been exploring in a classroom setting, and a chance to meet and connect with other artists, with whom I've formed meaningful and lasting bonds.
As a director, FCP offered me their faith where nobody else ever would've. I got to try my hand at directing for the first time with FCP in a safe and supportive environment. Later, I was given the chance to return and to take risks that only FCP would have facilitated. These chances taken on me are now pillars of the formation of my career. MATT CLARKE is the Artistic Director of Little Mountain Lion Productions and performed in AUTOBAHN and THE LARAMIE PROJECT for Fighting Chance Productions as well as directed THE DISTANCE FROM HERE and THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE |
![]() The play on words may seem cheesy, but I really took a chance with Fighting Chance Productions and it paid off. I’d never auditioned for a musical beyond my two high school shows, but I decided, at 18, to drive to Vancouver from Edmonton to audition for FCP’s first production of Rent. That show inspired my move to Vancouver where I continued to work with FCP 10 times while pursuing a BFA in Theatre Performance from SFU. I really consider working with FCP as part of my performance education. I began with ensemble and smaller featured roles and transitioned to playing title characters and leads. I am now a member of the theatre union, I’ve auditioned for a handful of shows in NYC and I’m currently working professionally with a creative team from Broadway. Fighting Chance was an integral part of my journey and I’m forever grateful.
HAL WESLEY ROGERS appeared in over 10 Fighting Chance Productions including both productions of RENT, GREY GARDENS and as the title characters in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. He has now worked professionally all over Canada. |
